Leadership
Build leadership capability by developing your intrapersonal (self-awareness, self-management) and interpersonal (social awareness, social influence) skills.
You will explore theoretical concepts and perspectives alongside practical individual and group exercises to prepare you for the challenges of leading in a complex environment.
Data Analysis
Gain the core skills to extract information from data in order to understand business processes and make better managerial decisions.
You will learn quantitative analysis, analytical thinking and ways to measure and improve performance, which will build a framework for solving complex business problems and the foundation for advanced MBA subjects.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Learn to interpret and analyse financial statements in order to extract useful information for better decision-making and assessing the financial health of an organisation.
Accounting is the “language of business”, and what you learn in this subject is essential for successfully completing other MBA subjects such as Finance, Strategy and Mergers and Acquisitions.

Take part in an intense, week‐long introduction to the concepts and techniques for innovating in small and large firms.
You will harness your creativity and lateral thinking for a hands-on team project where you will plan, strategise and develop an entrepreneurial business idea to then pitch to a panel of industry judges.
Corporate Financial Management
Discover how to address risk management, capital investment in foreign markets and corporate payout policy.
You will gain advanced financial management knowledge for funding a firm’s investments and using its resources efficiently.
Global Business Economics
Examine and come to understand the broader macroeconomic environment in which firms operate in and the variables that help firms perform effectively in the global economy.
You will gain frameworks to understand economic growth, inflation, unemployment, interest rates and exchange rates in a globalised world, and ways to consider how monetary and fiscal policies influence economic performance.
Management Accounting
Learn the fundamentals to making informed, value‐creating, managerial decisions.
You will be introduced to the finance know-how behind managerial internal-planning reports, decision‐making and performance evaluation.
Strategy
Explore the challenges of various well-known businesses and discover the frameworks that will allow you to understand and explain what strategy is and how strategy is optimised.
You will learn to diagnose and solve strategic business problems, organise the roles of values, clearly articulate the purpose for a strategy and plan against disruption.
Business in Asia
In this field-study project, you will learn about current business practices in Asia and assess their implications for Australian companies.
The subject culminates with a 10-day trip to Asia, where you will conduct market research, visit companies to gain first-hand exposure to their practices and deliver a research report.
Entrepreneurial Mindset
Work with the leaders of an entrepreneurially driven company to understand and practice the ability to sense, act, and mobilise under conditions of extreme uncertainty.
You will form a team with classmates to explore an issue of high strategic-relevance and develop practical recommendations for the CEO, allowing you to practice your skills in presentation and negotiation.
Business in Complex Environments (Capstone)
Work in a syndicate group to complete a business simulation in which you manage a company.
The simulation requires you to apply and integrate the knowledge, skills and attributes that you have learned and developed on the MBA program.
Social Impact Consulting Project (Capstone)
Putting your acquired MBA knowledge and skills to the test, you will work in a syndicate group as a consultant to a social enterprise.
With your syndicate, you will help the enterprise clarify the root causes of their social problems and develop an appropriate strategy to address them. Once you receive the client brief, you will negotiate the scope of work, undertake research, analyse your data and produce a client report.

Investment
Program Fee
The 2020 program fee for our Full-time MBA is $89,500. It covers all program costs, including flights and accommodation for the Business in Asia field trip, and can be paid in instalments.
If you receive an offer to study, a non-refundable deposit of $8,900 is required to hold your place. This deposit is offset against your first fee instalment after you accept your offer.
FEE-HELP
FEE-HELP is available for eligible Australian citizens and permanent residents.
Other Costs
International students:
- Please budget approximately $560 for visas.
- You must also take out medical insurance for the duration of your stay in Australia. The cost is approximately $729 per year (based on 2018 prices; more for a couple or family) and is paid with your first fee instalment.
Scholarships
We have a wide range of scholarships available to support your study at Melbourne Business School. Our scholarships encourage diversity, provide opportunity and reward talent.
You will automatically be considered for a scholarship when you apply – but to be eligible for some, you need to apply by a certain date.

How to Apply
Application Process
Apply
- Commence an application to become familiar with the application process.
- Meet with us to find out more about the School and program.
- Sit the compulsory GMAT as early as possible. Your results are valid for five years.
- Complete and submit your application by the application closing dates.
Interview
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a compulsory interview, which can be conducted in person, over the phone or by teleconference. The interview will last approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
Offer
A selection committee will make the final decision on each applicant to achieve a cohort that reflects gender balance and a diverse representation of industries, academic backgrounds and nationalities. Restrictions are also placed on the number of students from any one country or region.
Successful applicants will be notified via email. The offer may include the award of a scholarship.

Application Requirements
For a successful application, you will need:
- A good GMAT score – as a guide, recent students have achieved an average of 705 or higher. Please note that the GMAT is compulsory and we do not accept the GRE.
- An up-to-date CV showing a minimum of two years’ work experience.
- A copy of your undergraduate academic transcript and any postgraduate transcripts, if relevant.
- A passport or verified document showing current citizenship / residency status.
- An excellent command of English, with a copy of your IELTS or TOEFL score* if you are a non-native speaker.
- Personal statements relating to your goals and how you can contribute to the program.
- The names and contact details of two professional referees.
Candidates are assessed individually against the above criteria, but the final selection will also aim to achieve a cohort that reflects gender balance and a diverse representation of industries, academic backgrounds and nationalities. Restrictions are also placed on the number of students from any one country or region.
*For IELTS, you will need a minimum score of 7.0 overall, with no individual score less than 6.5. For TOEFL iBT, you will need a minimum score of 102, with a written score minimum of 24 and no individual score lower than 21.
